Miss Stubborn

Yesterday I started designing that Hedgehog Huggable that I mentioned before. I was expecting it to be a bit of a spiky task, but oh my! did I not know what was ahead of me. Let me introduce you: Miss Stubborn, the spiky lady.

This girl sure has attitude, I  tell you. I was fighting with her spikes for a whole day, trying to make them look nice and orderly until I ended up sewing them by hand one by one. Believe me, she has lot of spikes. I am still not quite happy with the result, so I will have to take the task of making a boyfriend to this demanding lady. I sincerely hope he does not give me as hard time as this one did. ;)

Laptop sleeve a’la retro

Lately I have been making bunch of laptop sleeves. I am hoping the Santa will bring me a brand new laptop and naturally new laptop needs a new sleeve. Early? Nah..

I came up with basic sleeve with soft padding and a small handle so it’s easy to carry around. It has a lining from a retro duvet and the cover is vintage curtain from Tampella. You can also write your Name and Telephone number  inside, in case the sleeve and its precious contents get lost. Nice and practical, I think. And that fabric is so Retro!!

p.s. This one fits perfectly to 13″ laptop and is available in p.s.shop

I have gotten few requests to make different kinds of animal Huggables. Lot of people seem to like cats, so I have made few of meowing HugBuddies. The first one was this one, and here is the second RetroKitten of mine. She is my favourite cat ever. I am allergic to real cats so retrocats are definitely more my kind of kitties. ;) This little kitty is on her way to Northern Norway. Hope the new owner likes her as much as I do.

p.s. I was asked to make a Huggable Hedgehog. That sounds like an interesting task. I will keep you posted on how that spiky task turns out to be…

Retro pouches

I found a pile of colourful leftover fabrics that needed to be used for something. They were all just small bits and pieces so I ended up making bunch of retro pouches. Here are some tastings of what I came up with. Yam, I say.

These and more pouches can be found in p.s.shop!

I love sewing Huggables, because they all turn out different and they all have their own individual look in them. Some look funny, some look cute, some are shy in appearance and some look wild. Still, each and everyone of them are just right for some little kid. And they all have one thing in common: They are very Huggable!

HuggaBear and RetroKitten

This colourful bunch is now in p.s.shop. They are all looking for a home, preferably with children. They are all happy in nature and house trained ;) Go and have a peak!

Retrobug overalls

I have been developing a bit more contemporary fit of retro overalls with wide hems.  My little boy has been my model trying out several test versions. This is the final version and I am quite pleased with it. So is my son, as he really dislikes to dress and undress.

The overalls have a simple yet very retro fit with wide hems.  I added elastics in the hems so they can be worn even when they are a bit too long. Elastics can be naturally removed when wanted. The overalls have press buttons on the shoulders.

These are made of soft orange corduroy, previously a women’s skirt. Lining and pockets are made of retro curtain with cute elephants.

I like the result. So does my son, since he refused to take them off again. Or maybe he was just fed up with dressing and undressing. Mommy’s little model..

Mr Stripy

Have you met Mr Stripy? He is stripy like a zebra and hears people’s happy thoughts, since he has hearts on his ears. He is calm and happy in nature and likes little babies more than anything. He loves to make little babies smile by wiggling his bum and making a little bell ring. His favourite pastime in the world is to watch over sleeping children and bring them happy, stripy dreams..

p.s. Mr Stripy and few of his friends are on their way to p.s.shop

Giraffe pouch

Two little giraffes jumped into this green pouch perfect for coins, phone or ipod. This one is on its way to yesterday’s birthday girl. Better late than never, right? ;)

Hug the huggables

I have gotten lot of hugs lately. My little boy wants to hug and cuddle all the time these days. It is so adorable. But since I can’t be there to cuddle him all the time, I figured it would be time to make some Huggables for him. So, I made a small bunny for him as a hugBuddy. As soon as I finished making the bunny, she landed in an accident that required some stitching to do. Now she has a very impressive scar in her face but I think it only gives her a bit of personality. She is now called “the Ouch! bunny” ;)
