I have lot of fabrics that are to my opinion absolutely adorable, but I just cannot make up my mind what to do with them. This red and blue cat and mice fabric is one of them. I always felt that it would make an amazing jacket or maybe overalls because the cats are so large. Well, the problem was solved when I got a request to make a dress of it. It turned out great! I like the way the fabric comes out in it. Especially those little mice peaking in the corners. So cute. I still have bunch of this fabric left. Maybe I’ll make those overalls. Or the jacket…

I really liked the way the jeans turned out and of course my son got few pairs for himself. From the rest I ended up making small baby jeans. They actually fit for my son, who wears size 86cm but were knee length. So, I guess as long jeans they are more like size 68cm. In the front I appliqued a circus bear from a vintage pillow cover and added long, dark lilac ribs. Quite cute, I think.
I got a hold of few pairs of old jeans. They were otherwise in great condition, just had faded slightly and had torn hems. I love using old jeans because of the nicely faded soft fabric and they definitely look cool in baby jeans. I spiced up these jeans with some colourful ribs, pockets and appliques. The green ones still have the back pockets in place. Very cool! ;)
The jeans are both size 92cm. They all have long ribs in the hems and waist, so they will fit longer. They will be available in the p.s.shop.
I have added a link at the top of the page where you can find selection of fabrics that are available for custom made orders. This first selection is of children’s fabrics mostly. I will add more pictures in the next few days. Meanwhile, have a look at these, what could be made of these? Dresses? Overalls? Or maybe jackets or hats?
Edit: There are now more photos of the fabrics available. Have a peak!
This green hoodie is made of vintage terry from the 70s. I got myself a piece of nice, thick terry that was just calling to be made into something cute. This hoodie is for a little girl who loves snails, so naturally I had to applique a little snail missie in front. The orange fabric is from an old vintage pillow case and the stripy lining is from recycled jersey shirt. This turned out really nice in my opinion. The fabric is so soft and comfortable, perfect for children’s clothes. And the colour! It makes me think of summer, freshly cut green grass and sunshine. And snails. Snails.
My little baby boy turns two years today! It feels like yesterday when he was born and now he is already such a big boy. He grows so fast that sometimes I just want to stop the time and keep him as mommy’s little boy a bit longer. He started kindergarden this week and the transition has been a bit difficult. More for me than for him, I think. Today, when he came home from the kindergarden, there was a surprise waiting for him. And what a nice surprise it was! This long legged friend of his came a long way to wish him happy birthday..
Edit. I forgot to mention the size of this long legged friend of ours. He is fairly tall fellow, almost 70cm long. Here’s another picture of him that shows his size a bit better. Perfect to cuddle with.
I had totally forgotten this pile of dresses I made before Christmas. Yesterday I was organising my fabrics and came across with them. What a lovely surprise. I think most of the colourful retro fabrics look at their best in a simple dress without too many details. The prints come out nice and they look so cute on those little girls. The first two are size 98cm and the other ones are size 92cm. You can found them in the shop.
The shop has opened again after the break with some new clothes and pouches. More is coming every day, so go and check it out!
I like colourful children’s clothing, I am sure you know this by now. I don’t want to dress my son in dark colours just because he is a boy. Because of that, we often get a question whether he is a girl. His dad is not too thrilled about that, but I think that it is just because he is so cute. ;) Mostly people ask that because they are not used to seeing boys wearing such bright colours, such as yellow, orange, green and red. All bright colours seem to be reserved only for girls. Well, I fail to accept this and will keep on dressing him in all the beautiful colours as long as I have any saying for the matter. What do you think, can boys wear other colours than blue?
Here are couple of trousers that I made recently. Nice, comfortable fit with soft and colourful fabrics. Great for both boys and girls. ;) These are both size 92cm and they are available in the shop.
A persistant flu has reduced my sewing hours to minimum lately but I have been busy otherwise. My son turns two years old next week and it was about time to get him a new bed. I was lucky to find this old children’s bed from the flee market last week. It was made sometime in the mid last century and needed a lot of fixing. Now after lot of sanding and painting, it is finally ready. I made a duvet cover and a pillowcase from bright yellow retro fabrics to add some colour. Then few Huggables as bed buddies and the bed is ready for sweet dreams.
It is funny how boys tend to like cars no matter what you do. My son has been a huge car fan since he was a baby. He would Brrrr Brrrrr with what ever he got a hold of and pretend it was a car. His dad is not much a car person, neither am I, so we find it funny that he is so fascinated with them. Because of his love of cars, I just had to buy this car fabric when I saw it in a net shop a while ago.
I had enough fabric to make also a birthday present for Onni’s four years old cousin. He is also a little car enthusiast. The car in front of the shirt is appliqued of leftover velor bits. Perfect outfit for a little mechanic, I think.
