I found a skirt from my pile of recycled materials, that was such a soft corduroy it just demanded to become baby trousers. I used the back pockets like in the jeans I made before and this time I also used the front pockets to give some nice detail to the front. A hedgehog found its place in the front and yellow ribs are in the waist and hems. The fit became quite wide and girly somehow, though I was thinking of making more of unisex model here. The size is appx. 68/74cm though they will definitely fit longer as 3/4 length trousers.

I have gathered up a lot of leftover bits of jeans. Some of them I turned into small bibs with different appliques. This one is with the familiar hedgehog out of yellow stripy cotton and a blue button as the eye. The backside is yellow jersey and the bib closes with press buttons. Easy to make and takes very little fabric! I have been making little things here and there now, as I have spent the most of my time sick in bed last few weeks. Now, finally I am up and running again. Well, not running but my sewing foot is definitely wiggling like mad, so I am hoping to get back to business and get some stuff done again.
This bunny is excitedly jumping around in front of these kiddo jeans size 92 /98cm. In that age the kids are jumping and running around like little bunnies, so it is quite fitting to have him as a jumping buddy. ;)
I destroyed yet another old pair of jeans by making this small pair with dark brown ribs and bunny applique. I think it’s so much fun to be able to reuse old materials and make totally new things about them. Lately jeans have been my favourite material. I think it’s because I got a huge pile of old worn out jeans from my friend and I just have to cut them in pieces and see what could be made of them. Well, I have to admit, I have not just been making trousers of all of those jeans. I do have another projects going on. More about them in the next post. So, stay tuned. ;)
Edit. Here is the little man trying out the bunny jeans. A bit too big for him still, so they will be available in the shop.
I got a request to make adult size hoodie from this dark blue bug fabric and yellow recycled cotton. Here is the result. The colours are not quite correct in the picture unfortunately, but the combination works pretty well. There are half moon pockets in front and the back is plain yellow. The ribs and the zipper are dark orange, just like the ladybugs in the fabric. Hope the lady will like these big bugs.
p.s. Talking of big bugs, I have gotten some nasty flu bug again. I don’t know how they keep on finding me. All tips for getting rid of stubborn bugs are welcome. ;)
My little boy started in the kindergarten few weeks ago and he just loves it. I have been going through all his clothes and marking them with name tags so they won’t get lost. It also became obvious that it has been a while since the previous inventory as lot of the clothes were too small for him already. Either he grows really fast or his mommy is lazy doing inventories… ;)
Whatever the case, I had to get busy and make some clothes for him. This one is a hooded vest made out of woolen knit. I just love this fabric, I found it from Rosa Matilda online shop a while ago. The lining is brown jersey knit. This vest is perfect on top of thin long sleeve shirt in the winter and on top of fleece jacket in the spring. And the colours are my favourites, naturally.
When I found this small piece of bright yellow velor, I knew I had to make a baby outfit of it. The fabric is so nice and soft and such a beautiful shade of yellow. I was wondering whether to applique something cute in the front, but I wanted to keep this one simple and just added three buttons and brown ribs for colour. It seems I’m stuck with yellow, brown and white, no matter what I make… ;)
As many of you have probably noticed, my page has been down for few days. Naturally we were out of town, when this happened and did not figure it out until three days later.. There were some problems with the server (said the computer geek of the household) that have now been solved, hopefully. ;)
So, a quick post for now since the page is up again. These are small trousers I made a while ago. They are waiting for yellow sweater, which is still in making. I added bit of colour to the brown and white with yellow ribs and appliqued the sun. I also double stitched all the seams with yellow, which I think turned out really nice. These are size 68cm and are for a little mr sunshine.
I have finished this set a while ago, I just haven’t remembered to post about it. The trousers are size 92cm and are made of vintage curtain. When I made these trousers, I was listening music from the Sound of music. This fabric inspired new lyrics for the song Favourite things.
“Letters and bugs and houses and cars,
Crescent moon amongst balloons and the stars,
Ladybird with green spotted wings,
these are a few of my favourite things…”
And to store ones favourite things in, I made a small pouch from the leftover fabrics. It is perfect to hide small toys or other treasures, that little kids might have. My son loves bags and pouches and he is always hiding his toys in all the bags he can find. I have made him few pouches and bags to keep his treasures, so he doesn’t have to take mommy’s bags. ;)
