This Thunderbirds fabric is some old curtain that I got some years ago. I originally made a jacket out of it and was left with fairly small pieces of fabric.  A friend of mine saw the jacket and wanted a vest for her son. Fortunately it was just enough to make this Thunderbirds vest in size 110cm. There is light padding inside the vest so it is perfect for spring weather on top of fleece jacket or similar. Thunderbirds are go!

Here is the second crochet project of mine. This time I made a jacket with green thick wool and acryl mix yarn and size 9 hook. Wonderfully quick and easy with such a big hook. I was making a hood for this one, but I ran out of yarn a bit too soon. So, I made a wide collar instead and I think it is quite cute like that. I might though get a bit more of the yarn and finish the hood. I lined the jacket with white jersey and appliqued a bunny in the front. The jacket is just about the right size for my son at the moment. I am hoping it is not too small by the time it is warm enough to wear it. If so, I guess it is time for crochet project number 3. ;)

The spring is coming, I can tell. I feel like making springy clothes. Dresses and light colourful jackets. Yes, the spring is coming…

This dotted bunny dress is for a little girl who loves these bunnies. She has one bunny dress already and she just loves to look at those cute long eared friends. I ended up making this one out of recycled polkadot fabric and applique few bunnies into it. The lining inside is white recycled cotton.

Simple stripes

I just love stripes. If it were up to me, I would have stripes in everything. Or polkadots. But definitely stripes. ;) I had some leftover velors that I combined into this stripy hedgehog shirt for my son. The blue button as hedgehogs eye gives a bit of colour into this familiar yellow, white and brown colour scheme of mine.

The Bee

I was inspired to take up crocheting again after many years. I found these two cool cotton threads in beautiful yellow and brown and just could not resist. So, the result is: The Bee Sweater.

It was actually easier to make than I expected. I just followed a pattern of one of Onni’s sweaters and sewed them together at the end. I was thinking 0f making a hood in the sweater but I decided to make a collar after all. In the front I added buttons that are covered with yellow terry. I am hooked. I will definitely make more of these. Maybe in green. Or in orange…

Like candy

This fabric is like candy. Yammi Yam! My friend fell for this vintage Tampella fabric as soon as she saw it and wanted a bag out of it. I made the lining out of red and white polkadot cotton, which I thought suited the theme nicely. There is inside pocket with a zipper and a small pocket for mobile phone or ipod etc. I also added a hook for the keys, so they won’t get lost inside the big bag. Delicious, isn’t it?

Mini Laptop Sleeve

This fabric was a true find in a flee market in Finland last Christmas. It is vintage Tampella curtain with big stripy flowers and the colours are wonderfully bright. It fits perfectly to this small laptop sleeve I was asked to make. It is only about 30 cm x 20cm in size and the lining is made of flowery retro sheet. I think it’s the cutest and the coolest laptop sleeve, I’ve made.

This pair of jeans I made for my son from yet another recycled jeans. He saw me making these trousers and said Wooooow! He is such a clever little boy and always knows how to make my day. So, he got to choose the fabric for the pockets. Funny thing is, he chose a very special fabric indeed. It’s a vintage fabric, that I only have small pieces of. My mother in law gave me some old fabrics and this was in them. She had made some curtains out of it in the 70s. Onni’s dad had them in his room and he still remembers the print. So, now Onni gets to wear pieces of his dad’s old curtains. Many people born in the 70s seem to remember this print. It must have been popular in children’s curtains and bedlinen. Brings back the memories in those who have been bitten by a retrobug.
