Clouds and rain

There are clouds in the sky. And I think I can see few drops of rain too.

Well, at least on these jeans, that I made for my friend’s little one year old boy.  The jeans are nice and soft and stretchy, so perfect for a little one who is practicing walking. I got hooked on printing denim with fabric colours and had to try this idea I had. The clouds are made just like the diamond pattern I made earlier for my son’s jeans, with folk art fabric colour, this time in white and a cloud shaped mount, that I cutted with a blade.

Simple.  So easy to spice up your old jeans or make something new out of them.

I love the diamond pattern and I wanted to make something with that to my little boy. However, it is very difficult to find any nice fabric with diamond pattern so I decided to improvise and went through my piles of recycled denim. I cutted trousers in size 80cm and used folk art fabric colours to make diamond pattern on the denim.

It turned out quite cool. The black colour is not very even, but it works on the denim just fine, as it is not too even coloured background either. So, diamonds for my little diamond. Sparkly, don’t you think? ;)

We are on a holiday in Finland now, so I have been making Summer clothes for the boys lately. It can get very warm in Finland over Summer although last few weeks have been quite cool.

Since the little one is only 10 months old, I have made light long trousers for him that are not too hot to wear on hot Summer days but still protect his sensitive skin from the sun. I used thin cotton to make comfortable harem pants with a pocket on the side. The front and back are of different fabrics. In front I used old retro curtain, and backside is recycled spotty cotton. The pocket is also black and white dotted cotton. Comfy and cool!

I am a sucker for stripes and dots. I have piles of stripy and dotted fabrics and now I have decided to make stuff out of them before getting new fabrics. ;) Easier said than done.

This one birthday present helped me slightly. I made stripy tunic dress for one year old girl out of stretchy terry and matching dotted leggins. Red and white and green is such a summery combination. Reminds me of strawberries and ice cream and green grass. So glad the Summer is almost here!

Baby star

My friend had a babyboy a while ago and I wanted to send him something cute and soft. My little boy loves to play with a star shaped rattle that I made last Christmas, so I decided to make similar one for this new baby. I used bright green polkadot cotton for the star and added a bell inside so it makes little sound when wiggled around. I also made velor trousers for him with green star applique and green ribbing on the waist and ankles. Now he can play with his rattle in matching trousers.. ;)

This outfit is also for my friend’s baby. She saw the cotton knit in my fabric piles and wanted a hoodie from it. It is really nice and soft knit with cute little colourful monsters and text I’m a little monster! ;) I used press buttons in the front and also made matching velor pants with kneepads to go with the hoodie. The outfit is size 70cm but the trousers will definitely fit long because of long ribbing on the waist and ankles. Perfect for mommy’s little monster!

Baby jeans

My friend asked me to make some baby jeans for her little bellybaby who will be born later this year. She wanted colourful sets that would fit nicely for both a boy or a girl. I made few jeans out of her old stretchy jeans that were nice and soft for baby clothing. I added giraffe applique in the front and small pockets at the back. Yellow ribbing gives nicely colour to the dark denim. The size is 68cm.

Another pair in size 62cm got orange ribbing for colour and an owl applique in the front. Both of them turned out really cute. I just can’t wait to see the little one wearing them!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here on the blog (Sorry about that!!) but I have been busy making bunch of stuff. There has been lot of bunny clothing for little kiddies in the making as well as some summer skirts for bit bigger girls. Now I finally got to take pictures and show you some of them.

This bunny outfit is for a little baby boy and it is size 70cm. It is made of soft velor and the hood has a white lining. I added press buttons in front in stead of zipper because in such a small clothing I feel they are more comfortable. :) The trousers are off white and have no side seams. Comfy comfy! It is nice to make a bit more calm coloured clothing for a change and not just bright reds and oranges all the time.

Here are few Christmas presents that I made this year. My sister ordered a bunch of bunny clothes for her friend’s babies and I think they turned out lovely. The velor with a bunny applique is a nice and comfortable  combination for the little ones. I made some dresses for girls and trousers, overalls and hoodie for boys. I think I have to make Onni something similar, maybe a vest with a little bunny. Would be cute cute ;)

A small post here in between the Christmas calendar…

A little boy got a beautiful name today and for the occasion I made this outfit for him. Little hedgehog onesie with comfy velor trousers. I appliqued a small hedgehog in the front and added bright turquoise button as an eye to give a bit of colour. Congratulations little man once more! :)
